Fafali: meaning and intent

The word Fafali is a word spoken in the Ewe language; it means there is peace which can also translate into a state of fulfilment or inner peace for either an individual, a community or a society.  Ewe is the language spoken in Ghana, Togo, Benin and Western Nigeria which are all in West Africa. The Fafali Organization is a Social Impact Project based nonprofit/charity organization.

Fafali provides the guidance and the opportunities for our children so that they can go beyond the classroom walls to solve real issues. We do this by the implementation of our various programs and by partnering with individuals and other smaller organizations impacting their communities. We also seek partnership with bigger organizations to help with the implementation of our programs.

Africa remains afflicted by entrenched poverty and alarmingly high and rising inequality. The gap between the rich and the poor is greater than in any other region of the world. All countries in Africa are dealing with the same poisonous legacy: very high levels of inequality, a history of colonial expropriation and failed economic policies often imposed on them by organizations outside the continent in collaboration with their leaders.

Until we invest in our children to change the narratives, we will forever be blaming others for our woes.  “It is easier to build strong children than to repair broken men.” Hence, it’s our moral obligation to provide our children with resources and the guidance they need to thrive in their communities.
